Install it on your phone

iPhone and iPad: get Calmical from the App Store. Or open calmical.com in
Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

Android: get Calmical from Google Play. Or open calmical.com in Chrome, tap Install when it's offered (or the ⋮ menu, then Install app or **Add to Home screen**).

Computers: in Chrome or Edge, the install icon at the end of the address bar adds it as an app. It works in any browser too.

Why iPhone notifications need the installed app

Apple lets websites send notifications only when they've been added to the Home Screen. So on an iPhone, install Calmical first (above), open it from the icon, then turn on notifications: the bell, or your own row on the Family tab. Each phone or computer is turned on separately. You choose what you get: changes other people make, reminders, leave-by alerts, and (adults) the Sunday week ahead.

Invite your family

On the Family tab, an admin adds each person. Anyone 13 or older can have their own login: on their row, confirm they're 13 or older, tap Invite and send them the link (it works once, for 7 days). Younger kids don't need a login; they're on the calendar and you manage their events.

Add events from a flyer or an email

Tap +, then ✨ Import from photos or text ("Flyers, newsletters, emails, screenshots"). Take or choose photos of a schedule, flyer or newsletter (up to 5 pages), or paste an email or a text. You check every event, and change anything, before it's added.

If it's a syllabus or a class schedule, tap 🎓 School syllabus or schedule instead; and if what you imported looks like one, Calmical asks "This looks like a syllabus — import it as a course?": tap Import as a course to read the same photos or text as a course (it doesn't count as another import).

You can also share straight to Calmical: in another app's share sheet (Photos, a screenshot, Mail, Messages), choose Calmical. This works in the Calmical app, and in the installed app on Android.

The first time, Calmical tells you what happens to what you import: it's sent to Google's Gemini AI, in our own Google Cloud project, to find the events, and nothing is kept afterwards. More in the privacy policy.

Events with more than one person

An event belongs to one person (Who: their column, their color). To add others, tap them under With in the event form. The event then:

It's still one event: changing, moving or deleting it changes it for everyone, and you can drag the lighter block too. Someone who's in With can't be picked as Who; take them out of With first. On a calendar you share with another family, they see the events that person is with someone for too, with the names, unless it's 🔒 private.

All-day events

Tap + All day in a day's all-day strip, above the hours (on a computer, it shows when you point at the strip). It opens a new event with All day ticked on that day. In day view it's for that person's column; in week view, for the one person you're showing, if you've picked just one. A day that already has all-day events has a small + in the corner instead.

Repeating events

When you add or edit an event, ↻ Repeats can be:

All-day events repeat too (one day each), like "Rent" on the 1st of every month.

What's new

When something new arrives, the bell gets a ✨ New: … note (it doesn't add to the number on the bell or the app icon), and the next time you open the app a small card shows what's new since you last looked, with See all for the full list (Family →
✨ What's new). On a phone you'll also see a few one-time tips, each once.

On a phone

The top of the calendar is one toolbar: ‹ Today › +, the dates, and Week ▾ to switch between Day, Week, Month and Agenda. Next to it:

Week ▾ also turns the dinner and chores row off or on, for this phone. Scroll the calendar down and the rows above the hours fold away; scroll up to bring them back.

The Calmical app

On a phone or tablet

Copy, cut and paste

Right-click an event (or press and hold it on a phone) for ✂️ Cut or 📋 Copy, then tap a time. Cut moves it there; Copy puts a copy there (same details, same person), with the drop-off, pick-up and packing list if it has them. One of a repeating event pastes as a one-off.

Import a school schedule or syllabus

Tap +, then 🎓 Import school schedule ("Syllabus, class schedule or course documents"). Pick whose calendar it goes on, and choose a PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file, or photos of the pages (up to 8 MB). If the syllabus doesn't give the term dates, add them, so dates like "Week 5 Tuesday" work.

You see everything it found, grouped: class times, exams, due dates, term dates and breaks, and readings. Anything unclear is marked ⚠︎ and left out until you check it.
Add puts the class times on as repeats (skipping days off), the dates as events, and the readings as a to-do list, all under the course. Titles start with the course code, and exams and due dates get the usual reminders.

Through the term

Share a calendar with another family

On the Family tab, on a person's row, tap + Share (their name)'s calendar. Pick what the other family sees: busy times only, details (title, time and place; never notes), or can add events (their adults can add appointments too). Send them the link; an admin in their family adds it in Family → Shared calendars. Either family can stop sharing at any time. Private events show only as "Busy".

Carpools and "who can cover pickup?"

When you add an outing, set the drop-off or pick-up to 🚗 Needs a driver if nobody has it yet. Then:

Co-parenting schedules

On the Family tab, an admin opens 🔁 Co-parenting schedule on a child's row: the other parent's name, a pattern (week on/off, 2-2-3, 2-2-5-5, 3-4-4-3, every other weekend, or your own), the day it starts, and the handoff time, place and who drives. The stays and handoffs appear on the calendar 8 weeks ahead. For a one-off swap, change or cancel that event. Share the child's calendar with the other parent's family so they see it too.

A tablet as a wall display

On your phone, an admin goes to the Family tab, 📺 Devices, taps **+ Add wall display, names it and gets a code. On the tablet, open calmical.com/display** and enter the code. The tablet then shows today's calendar, the clock, countdowns, dinner and chores. It never shows notifications, private information or the Family screen. No subscription.

Leave by

Set your home address in Family → Settings. On the day of an event with a place, the person going gets a push about 15 to 30 minutes before it's time to leave, worked out from the drive in traffic. Turn it off for one event with 🚗 Leave-by alert in the event form, or for yourself with Leave-by alerts in your notification settings.

How private is the cycle tracker?

It's off unless you turn it on for yourself, on your own Family row. Your logged days are encrypted on your device with a passphrase only you know, and nobody else in your family, not even an admin, can read them. Nothing from it shows in the family calendar, notifications or the wall display unless you choose to share predicted dates. We can't recover a forgotten passphrase. People with access to our systems could see your settings (like the next reminder date), but not your logged days. More in the privacy policy.

In the Calmical app, you can also lock it with Face ID or your fingerprint on that phone (in the cycle tracker's settings). It asks when you open the tracker, and again after you leave the app. It's a lock in front of what's on your phone, not extra encryption, and your passphrase always still works.

Deleting your account

On the Family tab, 👤 Your account is at the top: tap Delete account, then
Delete my account to confirm. You may be asked to sign in again first (with Apple, Google or your password). It all happens in the app.

Deleting your data

On the Family tab, Your data and account:

Backups are kept for 14 days, then deleted data is gone for good.
